Rainbow Companies
Jacob Baker
This project is meant to demonstrate the “rainbow-fishing’ of companies, particularly during pride month. Rainbow-fishing is the act of companies presenting as an ally to the LGBTQI+ community, when these efforts are shallow, and mainly exist to attract more customers and sales.
This hypocrisy is harmful to the LGBTQI+ community as it uses their platform and existence as a tool for capitalistic companies to take advantage of. This is widely practiced by companies internationally, however the public have little to no idea that they are being taken advantage of. No community of people should be used for the increase of profits.

This project should not only highlight this problem, but open the audience eyes to this undertaking, and make the public more aware of their choices to truly support the queer community.
